Leadmill Nightclub – Sheffield

Monday, February 18th, 2008

leadmill-nightclub-2.jpgIf you’re into the indie/rock music scene and are in Sheffield, head to Leadmill. The live music and club venue is well known on the indie scene particularly for its association with the Arctic Monkeys, a Sheffield based band.

Being one of Sheffield’s main night spots many students are attracted by its cool and famous club vibe as well as its cheap drinks but it also has a large clientele of artists and the unemployed too, according to the website. With plenty of live gigs introducing up and coming stars this is one venue not to miss.

There’s a selection of club nights to choose from including Shag on Monday’s and Teenage Kicks on Tuesdays. Visit the website for information on more club nights and upcoming live gigs.

Bar 23

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

Bar 23I had heard Bar 23 in Sheffield City Centre was a stylish, modern and trendy place to be seen, I just didn’t know where to find it. Vodka Revolution in West One has been a regular haunt of mine and looking around the area I had noticed the great selection of restaurants, I had just failed to notice Bar 23 hidden in the corner.

The bar definitely joins Crystal, Ruby Lounge and Vodka Revolution in being one of the nicest bars in Sheffield. It’s modern, sleek décor adds to its elite atmosphere and attracts the fashionable and the affluent. The cocktails are amazing and well worth the £5 charge per drink. I recommend the baby doll, my friends suggest the margarita, but see what takes your fancy. Overall a lovely evening but it does get very busy on a weekend, so get there early too avoid standing all evening and maybe even book yourself a table at the restaurant which I hear is great too.

Bar 23 is located at unit 3, the plaza, 8 Fitzwilliam Street, Sheffield City Centre. Visit www.23barandrestaurant.co.uk for more information.

Shop For Some Cute Little Gifts

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

Mookau is a new and unique store based on Ecclesall Road in Sheffield very close to the city centre. After brushing past the store I couldn’t help but notice the cute selection of treats that are displayed in the window. After taking a peak I noticed some fantastic small humorous gifts perfect for birthday and Christmas pressies.

There is a range of cards with amusing one liner’s such as ‘I’m positive “till death do us part” is just a saying’ sold at £4.99 per tin of 12 with 4 different styles, and delicious looking cup cake candles that cost just £2.99. Other than gifts, decorative household accessories are sold too such as mirrors and lights.

Mookau can be found at 391 Ecclesall Road, Sheffield (between Starbucks and Fat Face).
