Trees for Cities Tree-Athlon

While browsing Green Events this morning I came across an article that caught my attention. Trees for cities are holding a Tree-Athlon in Battersea Park to raise money for the planting and care of thousands of trees. The same event was held in 2005 and 2006 and both were successful and popular with the public.

Trees for cities is a charity and have organised a 5km run and a ‘tree wish’ – I’m intrigued to find out more about this! There will also be a fashion swap; everyone takes a clean item of clothing that they no longer need and takes something home that they do need, all left over clothes are donated to TRAID (Textile Recycling for Aid and International Development). The event will take place on Saturday 15th September from 10am onwards and will be a great way for all you tree lovers out there to donate to the cause.

South West Trains – Cheap Days Out

I don’t really like South West trains, they are usually a pretty big rip off compared to other train companies but they do have a good offer with their ‘Group Save’ tickets. I’ve been going by train to London or nearby attractions such as Thrope Park and Chessington World of adventures with friends since I was about 14 but I’ve only recently discovered this offer.

When three or more of you travel together you can get three or four adult tickets for the price of 2! This usually makes great savings of at least a third of the individual ticket price. That’s an even bigger saving that using a Young Person’s Rail Card! The only snag is you have to make sure you travel there and back together and sit with each other on the train – so make sure you don’t lose any of your friends on your day out in London.

Anyone Need Car Hire?

A few weeks ago I was staying in London with my boyfriend and we decided to book some Car Hire so we could go exploring a bit further. Usually I would just book a taxi or get on a bus but I knew I would be out and about quite a lot so booked it on the spur of the moment.

I found a great website to do this through with a really easy booking system and easy navigation. The thing I liked most about the site was that it showed me a selection of different offers available and compared prices so I didn’t have to look around a do it myself.
